We believe both of our ancestors lived in Northern Ireland before emigrating to the United States. We’re so excited to walk in their footsteps.
Hello Northern Ireland! We’re staying in Carrickfergus tonight and got one of their new rooms…with a view of the ocean and Carrickfergus Castle, which we are headed over to investigate shortly. Years of genealogy research by Dave have led us to Northern Ireland where we believe both of our ancestors are from. In fact, we may have a record of where our relatives actually knew one another and some documents have recorded a dispute. What are the odds their long-lost American relatives would one day meet online, fall in love and get married. Pretty neat.
We’re looking forward to the Coastal Causeway, castles, quaint villages and a pint or two…or three. Stay tuned to this page for the 2nd half of our trip after we visit Scotland.
